Building Communities

The Northwest is a rich and vibrant region made up of a diverse mix of communities. The NWDA’s role is to make sure all of these communities - urban, rural and business - feel positive about where they live and work and feel a valued part of the Northwest.

The NWDA works with communities at a strategic level, working both regionally and within sub-regions, to:

• Provide pleasant environments for people to live and work in
• Create new public spaces; develop rural areas in a sustainable way
• Generate employment opportunities for local people
• Build places where people want to live, work and invest

The Agency is also supporting key private sector regeneration schemes which are under threat due to current economic conditions.

It is not just the people who already live and work in the region who benefit from the NWDA investing in Northwest communities; the region’s economy can benefit from the inward investment that strong communities and a better quality of life attract.
