Rural Economy
The NWDA is committed to delivering the Rural Renaissance
Regional Recovery Plan, which focuses on the medium to long-term
recovery of the rural economy. This multi-million pound plan has
been coordinated by the Agency and will help rebuild the
Northwest’s rural economy to ensure a more prosperous future.
The Agency is committed to delivering rural renaissance and:
- Is investing over £100 million in the region's rural areas in
the period 2003-2008
- Has established Cumbria Vision to drive forward the future
economic regeneration of Cumbria
- Is investing in Rural Recovery Partnerships in Lancashire and
Cheshire.
- Has committed over £7 million into ground-breaking projects to
assist the productivity and marketing of rural food
businesses
- Is playing a leading role with the Government Office for the
North West in delivering the Government's Strategy for Sustainable
Farming and Food in the region
- Is helping communities to develop local solutions to issues
facing their towns through the Market Towns Initiative, an £18
million programme covering 17 towns in the region.
