Liverpool – European Capital of Culture 2008
The NWDA is proud to be an official partner of Liverpool 08.
These are exciting times for Liverpool as the city delivers as the
European Capital of Culture 2008, and the NWDA is committed to
maximising the benefits for the whole region up to 2008 and
beyond.
The NWDA has committed £2 million to assist the Liverpool
Culture Company with the delivery of its cultural programme. The
Agency’s support recognises the positive economic impact Capital of
Culture will have on Liverpool and across the region, as new
businesses are established, new jobs created and the physical
landscape of the city is transformed.
Liverpool expects to welcome around two million extra
visitors to enjoy the celebrations, while the city’s status as the
European Capital of Culture is predicted to generate an addition £2
billion in investment - and the benefits will be felt right
across the Northwest and beyond.
Liverpool and Merseyside have an important role to play in
pushing forward the economic prosperity of the Northwest, and the
NWDA is committed to working with all of our partners, in Liverpool
and throughout the region, to ensure that 2008 is another memorable
year in the history of England’s Northwest.
