England's Northwest Tourism Conference 2008
Date: Tuesday, 18 November 2008
Location: Southport Theatre and Convention Centre
Time: 10:00 to 15:30
Tourism is an increasingly important industry in England’s
Northwest worth over £11 billion to the regional Economy. In
a difficult economic climate the sector is demonstrating a quiet
confidence, but with business leaders and politicians not
predicting a swift reversal of the economic downturn, it is vital
that the industry is prepared for more challenging times
ahead.
This year’s annual tourism conference for England’s Northwest
will focus on these challenges, examining how today’s markets are
changing and how tourism businesses can maximise opportunities in a
time of economic uncertainty.
Speakers include a representative from the Henley Centre, a
renowned authority on global trends and futures insights, as well
as experienced tourism professionals from businesses as diverse as
Blackpool’s Beach House, winner of the Northwest’s Self Catering
Holiday of the Year and Liverpool’s Arena and Convention
Centre.
Other speakers will provide an insight into recent innovative
research examining trends in day visitors, staying visitors and the
lucrative business tourism market.
