Agecroft Commerce Park in Salford nears completion
Agecroft Commerce Park, Salford is nearing completion with the
release of the final four development plots on site.
Global real estate adviser DTZ is the sole agent on Agecroft
Commerce Park, which has established itself as one of the leading
industrial parks in the region. The park continues to attract
occupiers of the highest calibre including Nimans, Securicor and
Bunzl Plc and most recently PZ Cussons, following the recent
completion of their £26m innovation centre.
Situated on the site of the former Agecroft Colliery, Agecroft
Commerce Park was reclaimed by the NWDA in association with the
Homes and Communities Agencies (HCA) through the National
Coalfields Programme. Following an extensive regeneration programme
the Agecroft project is now reaching its final stages and it is
expected that deals could be completed on the remaining four plots
by autumn. Agecroft is one of the few opportunities in the Greater
Manchester area to purchase “oven ready sites” which are available
for development. The recently released sites range in size from
1.43 acres up to 4.13 acres, potentially accommodating single units
from approx 25,000 to 100,000 sq ft.
Tony O’Keefe, Industrial Director, DTZ said: “This scheme has
been a phenomenal success over the course of recent years and is
testament to the work of the NWDA and the Homes and Communities
Agency through the Coalfield Programme in acting as a catalyst for
regeneration.
“On completion, the project will ultimately deliver a total of
83,000 sq m of accommodation, securing 1,100 jobs, leaving a
thriving industrial estate and a platform for future prosperity and
continued employment growth.”
Paul Lakin, Director of Land and Property at the NWDA said: “The
redevelopment of Agecroft Colliery has been a real success of the
National Coalfield Programme, bringing new high quality businesses
into Salford. The release of new plots will further establish the
business park which will boost the jobs market in Salford now and
for future generations. Its location, first class facilities and
access to a large potential workforce makes Agecroft an attractive
prospect for business and I'm pleased to see that it is creating
such positive effects in the Salford community.”
Deborah McLaughlin, Director for the HCA in the North West said:
“The competition of Agecroft is great news. Through working closely
with local partners, our investment has helped develop the former
colliery into a superb business site for the North West that is
having a marked effect on the local economy and is providing a
wealth of job opportunities.”
