Redsun take off in Bromborough

Commercial Property Developers Redsun Developments Ltd has just completed a major industrial project in Wirral and has already secured a hi-tech Wirral based company as anchor tenant for the scheme.

Redsun which is based in Merseyside and operates throughout the North West purchased the six acre site in Tebay Road at the edge of Wirral International Business Park, Bromborough from Thermal Ceramics in 2009.

The resulting development includes a 60,000 sq.ft industrial unit to be occupied by aerospace manufacturer CML Group, A new build 45,000sq ft warehouse and an 8,000sq ft office building.

CML has long been based in Birkenhead and needed to expand its composites division. The recently completed building which has achieved “very good“ energy efficiency standard, is to be occupied solely for composites manufacture.

Craig Booton, Managing Director of Redsun Developments Ltd said: “We’ve worked closely with CML to produce a modern, efficient ‘flagship’ building, which will provide the foundations from which to market themselves and their skills to the global aerospace industry.”

The newly built 45,000 sq ft warehouse and the office building have also achieved high scores under the Breeam scheme.

The £4.85 million development received £2.3 million towards the project from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).

David Malpass, Director of the European Programme said: “Development of the former Thermal Ceramics site at Tebay Road will result in the reclamation and redevelopment of brownfield land, benefitting businesses, local communities and the economy.”

The development of the Tebay Road site by Redsun Developments, fits with the aims of Wirral’s Employment Land Study (2008) which identifies a need for more quality sites and premises to attract further investment in the Borough.

Cllr Andrew Hodson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning Strategy said: “Redsun have worked closely with Wirral Council on this project which has the potential to create up to 350 jobs and will bring over 100,000 sqft of new floorspace to the market at what was previously a derelict brownfield site.  We desperately need more quality business premises in the Borough and Tebay Road has set the standard for future developments in Wirral.”

Craig added: “Our experience of carrying out a large scale industrial site in Wirral has been an excellent one.  Wirral Council has demonstrated an integrated approach and positive and welcoming attitude to investment.”

Redsun Developments Limited are set to undertake a further development in Bromborough at an 8 acre site, the details of which are to be released shortly.
