ServiceSource investment in Liverpool to create 258 new jobs

ServiceSource International, a US owned high-growth technology company, has chosen Liverpool as the location for its second European Service Centre, in a move expected to create 258 new jobs.

The privately-owned company, which was founded in San Francisco in 1999 and employs 1,300 people worldwide, is focused on partnering with technology, healthcare and life sciences clients, to drive up service revenue and customer satisfaction from maintenance, support and subscription contracts.

ServiceSource has over eighty client engagements worldwide, including Adobe, Alcatel-Lucent, GE Healthcare, Hitachi Data Systems, Pitney Bowes and Tandberg.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and The Mersey Partnership (TMP) have been working closely with ServiceSource to secure this investment for the Liverpool city region since June 2008, with the investment confirmed in May 2010. The investment, worth circa £35million to the Liverpool City Region will initially locate in The Plaza.

ServiceSource, which already has a European Service Centre in Dublin, chose Liverpool over other locations following a European-wide search. Liverpool was chosen due to its availability of skilled multi-lingual graduates with technical selling skills, in addition to thriving city centre and state of the art business infrastructure.

Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of the NWDA, said:

“This is a significant investment in the Liverpool city region and one that further demonstrates the city’s growing reputation as an international business location, particularly in the current economic climate. As a high growth company, ServiceSource will make a vital contribution to the local and regional economy, creating 258 new graduate jobs, helping to ensure that the city retains and attracts young talent.

“The Agency, TMP, and the NWDA team in the USA have been working hard to secure this important investment and we will continue to work closely with the company to support their move to the region.”

Lorraine Rogers, Chief Executive of The Mersey Partnership (TMP) said:

“ServiceSource has chosen Liverpool as their second European Service Centre. This significant investment underlines the strength of the Liverpool City Region offer, including a highly skilled graduate talent pool, a competitive cost base and our experience in the Knowledge Economy. Service Source is the global leader in service technologies for high-tech and healthcare client companies. TMP will continue to work closely with ServiceSource to support its future plans.”

Crosbie Burns, executive vice president and managing director of ServiceSource EMEA said:

“The rapidly evolving global market, as well as Liverpool’s proximity to our European customer base, made it a great choice for our operational expansion. The Liverpool service centre will help us to expand our footprint in the UK and pan-European markets, while leveraging a rich and energetic workforce and allowing us to maintain the performance oriented, collaborative company culture that ServiceSource is known for.”
