Draft NWDA Corporate Plan 2008/09 to 2010/11

In September 2007, Government published the results of its
Comprehensive Spending Review. This set the NWDA’s budget and
responsibilities for the next 3 years. It required NWDA to
prepare a new Corporate Plan. The Agency’s Plan sets out in
more detail our plans for delivering our contribution to the
Regional Economic Strategy and our wider remit on behalf of the
Northwest for the period from 2008/09 to 2010/11.
Government also recently published the results of its review of
Sub-National economic development and regeneration. This set
out new responsibilities for RDAs.
The production of this plan represents an important first step
towards implementing the recommendations of the Sub National Review
in the Northwest. It outlines the major challenges and changes NWDA
will face over the next three years and how we intend to respond.
It covers our changing role with sub regional and local partners,
delegation and the move to programme management, as well as the
likely transfer of functions from the Regional Assembly (which will
cease to exist in its current form).
Our draft plan sets out 11 strategic objectives, with funding and
outcomes identified for each. These objectives, and the resources
we are proposing for each, are based on our RES commitments and up
to date evidence of the progress of the regional economy. They are
strategic priorities and the plan does not make individual project
commitments or decisions.

Associating corporate plan outcomes with BERR
objectives
The Agency’s Board, approved this plan at their meeting in March
2008, At the same meeting, the Board approved our Strategic
Investment Plan (SIP) which is fully aligned to the Corporate Plan
priorities. This approval followed an extensive consultation with
major stakeholders in the region in January and February 2008
including presentations on the plan.
Feedback from the consultation has been very positive
particularly about the changed focus and format of the plan. We
have taken the opportunity to make some amendments following this
feedback further strengthening the plan. A summary of the feedback
from this consultation is available below

The plan has also undergone a formal independent Equality and
Diversity (E&D) and Sustainable Development (SD) impact
assessment. Results of these assessments can be
