Equality and Diversity

In November 2000, the NWDA established an Equality and Diversity Task Group  to develop an overarching strategy on equal opportunities and diversity for the Agency. The aim was to ensure that existing activities in this area were properly co-ordinated in line with current good practice and in support of the regional strategy. This task is now complete and the NWDA Board approved the Equality and Diversity Strategy in February 2001.

Racial Equality
England's Northwest is a diverse region which is much enhanced by the contribution of black and minority ethnic communities. The NWDA, therefore, welcomes the opportunity to produce a Race Equality Scheme which outlines the ways in which it aims to promote equality of opportunity within the region.

As an Agency with a statutory duty to further the economic development and regeneration of the Northwest, we believe our key role in promoting racial equality is in promoting employment opportunities for all racial groups. The Scheme outlines the ways we intend to address this task.
